Provincial Excise Tax Harmonization Update for Ontario, Quebec, Nunavut, Northwest Territories

On May 8th, the federal government confirmed that the Provincial Excise Tax harmonization has received royal assent and will take effect as of July 1, 2024. This change applies to the following provinces/territories: Ontario, Quebec, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories.

Storefronts and online stores will be able to sell-through inventory that has the Federal Excise tax stamp until September 30, 2024. However, as of July 1, 2024 all products manufactured and intended for sale in Ontario, Quebec, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories will be required to have a province/territory-specific tax stamp applied at time of final packaging.

If you wish to order pre-harmonized product to be able to sell until September 30, 2024, the latest we will be able to accept orders is September 30, 2024 at 11:59PM EST. We will work with you to schedule your orders to ship as close to the September 30, 2024 deadline so that your cash-flow is not tied up.

As of October 1, 2024, all products offered in retail sale in the affected provinces will be required to have the province-specific tax stamps.
